Things to do in Bodrum
There are so many things to do in this city that it can be hard to pick just one thing. But if I had to choose, I’d say check out:
- Bodrum Castle—if nothing else, just because it’s such an iconic landmark in the city, dating back to the days of the Ottoman Empire, an ode to medieval history that was built by Crusaders in the 15th century. It sits on a hill overlooking the harbor, giving visitors an incredible view of the marina and boats below. The castle itself has been restored over time and features multiple museums inside. If you’re lucky enough to go during sunset hours, then you’ll get some beautiful views up there!
- Explore Antiquity House, a museum that houses artefacts from ancient civilizations like Greece and Rome.
- Take Your time to explore the famous shopping streets, If you’re looking for something more relaxing than shopping for souvenirs, then take a trip out to one of Bodrum’s beaches! Many are located right along the shoreline so you can watch boats sail by while soaking up some rays (or maybe even get in on some water sports). There are also plenty of luxurious hotels in Bodrum that offer everything from five-star service to luxurious amenities like pools and spas, b&b accommodations, Airbnb, apartments for rent and even hostels. If you’re looking for something more affordable you will get, there are plenty of options available!!
- There are also several restaurants and cafes lining the marina if you just want to enjoy views of boats and mega yachts while sipping on turkish coffee, chai or cocktails.
Getting there
The easiest way to get to Bodrum is to fly into Milas-Bodrum Airport (BJV), which has direct flights from Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir Airport. Once you land, you can either take a taxi or rent a car to get around. We recommend renting a car, as it will give you the freedom to explore Bodrum at your own pace.
